CXI TUL Wins the German Business Award for the AI4multidirectAM Project

12. 11. 2025

The Institute for Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials at Technical University of Liberec together with partners from Germany and the Czech Republic, has received the prestigious German Business Award in the category “Czech-German Cooperation.” The award was presented during the German-Czech Economic Forum, held on November 11 at the Mánes Gallery in Prague.

The award is presented by the German-Czech Chamber of Industry and Commerce to innovative companies and institutions whose activities support a sustainable, technologically advanced economy and strengthen competitiveness.

Awarded Project: AI4multidirectAM

The AI4multidirectAM project brings together top experts from academia and industry. On the Czech side, it is implemented by EntryEngineering and CXI TUL, while the German partners include Fraunhofer IWU Institute, Lakowa, and RTT System.

The aim of the project is to solve several key challenges in large-scale robotic 3D printing. Our team focuses mainly on data collection and analysis. By using modern sensors and artificial intelligence, we can perform continuous quality control even for prints lasting several days. Thanks to early detection of issues and print parameter corrections, we expect lower defect rates and stable production quality, even without continuous operator supervision. An important part of the project is also the ability to test the system on real industrial projects thanks to data from our partners,” explains Tomáš Martinec, the project leader.

We truly appreciate this recognition. It confirms that connecting Czech and German innovation cultures brings breakthrough results. Together with our partners, we are pushing the boundaries of what additive manufacturing can achieve today,” adds Jan Kočí, project co-leader from CXI TUL.
