Project:
Towards exploration and evaluation of European natural hydrogen potential
Realization period:01.01. 2026 – 31.12. 2028
Leader at TUL:RNDr. Alena Ševců, Ph.D.
This project develops methods to characterize natural hydrogen generation, migration, and accumulation, identifying prospective areas through case studies with remote sensing, geophysical surveys, and geochemical and microbiological analyses. Experimental and numerical models will predict hydrogen system dynamics and assess its renewable potential. Key aspects include purification requirements, economic feasibility, and geological viability. Social acceptability and environmental impacts will be evaluated, alongside EU certification potential. This research will enhance safe and cost-effective exploration of natural hydrogen, supporting the transition to low-carbon energy.
